"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to imagination, and life to everything."

CONTACT
Bryan Wrenn is an active performing guitarist, primarily in the central MA and greater Boston areas.  He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at numerous select venues throughout New England, including Mechanics Hall in Worcester, the Worcester Art Museum, and King's Chapel in Boston. He performs regularly with flutist Bonnie Cochran (Cochran-Wrenn Duo), as well as other mixed instrument chamber groups. He has been featured as a live performer on Rhode Island radio station WRIU's "Divertimento" classical music program. In May 2011, he was a featured soloist with Symphony Pro Musica, performing Rodrigo's famous Concierto de Aranjuez for guitar and orchestra. He was described by artistic director Mark Churchill as a "fearless player, who brings his own personal voice to this familiar concerto." Bryan performs frequently as an ensemble guitarist, having played with such groups as the Worcester Jazz Orchestra, NEC Wind Ensemble, Mass Theatrica, Worcester County Light Opera, Theatre at the Mount, and the Foothills Theater. He also performs regularly in small jazz ensembles, most notably with saxophonist Vinnie Penella.

A native of Grafton, MA, Bryan began his musical journey when he started taking guitar lessons at the age of eleven. His immediate family was always very supportive and encouraged his involvement in music. His late uncle Dennis Wrenn, a prominent musician and educator, was a particularly strong source of inspiration. After only a few months, it became evident that the guitar would forever be a part of Bryan's life.  In these first few years, his guitar playing focused primarily on the electric guitar and rock/heavy metal, although the study of technique would inevitably lead him to other types of music. During his high school years, he began studying jazz theory and improvisation. As a student at Grafton High School, he had the privilege of taking jazz ensemble under the direction of jazz guitarist Steve Trombley. He also studied privately with Worcester based guitarist Joe D'Angelo.

It was not until college that Bryan began studying classical guitar. He attended Assumption College in Worcester, MA where he received his bachelor's degree in both music and accounting. While at Assumption, he studied with award-winning guitarist and Worcester native Peter Clemente. Upon finishing his undergraduate work, Bryan attended the New England Conservatory in Boston, where he received a master's degree in guitar performance. While at NEC, he had the privilege of studying under the direction of world-renowned guitar virtuoso Eliot Fisk. Apart from his private studies, Bryan has also performed in master classes for such artists as Pepe Romero, Benjamin Verdery, Lorenzo Micheli and Jason Vieaux.

In addition to his work as a performer, Bryan is also active as an arranger and educator. He is always looking for new ways to expand the guitar repertoire, in both the solo and chamber music setting. Recently he has done his own adaptation of several well known works to the guitar idiom, including Ravel's Pavane pour une infante defunte, and Bach's Flute sonata in E minor. He has taught privately since 2005, both as a freelance instructor and at David French Music Company, where he works as a full time employee in the area of  school music service.

Bryan currently lives in Worcester, MA with his wife, Amanda and dog, Clara. In his free time he enjoys skiing, exercising, cooking, and watching sports (especially the Bruins!).
